There's a pilot, a barrister, a bookmaker, two different artists and a glassblower, to name a few. Felix writes in the same style as his father, though in one of his novels, the heroine is a female Dr. I can recommend the next two books which also feature Sid Halley, "Under Orders" and "Refusal" as books to read.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658474694942339787.post-76852310294295342382022-05-16T13:39:34.605+01:002022-05-16T13:39:34.605+01:00I'm not really a sports fan at all! When you are immersed in it, when you care, there is no sport quite as emotionally intense. Football has nothing on horse racing. (For a start, people can literally die doing their job.) There's a magic about it, which I think invaded Francis's fiction and infects the mind of anyone who gets drawn into it.Nick Greenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08191176209084540085noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658474694942339787.post-64478999977978028452022-05-10T09:51:35.786+01:002022-05-10T09:51:35.786+01:00How lovely! I guess they're the sort of adult book - like Agatha Christie - which are very accessible to a young reader.<br />Sally Nichollsnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658474694942339787.post-19449570927709354892022-05-09T22:29:31.988+01:002022-05-09T22:29:31.988+01:00A consummate summing up of Dick Francis books! I used to feel dreadfully sorry for Francis' that they spend nearly a year writing it and I finished them in three hours! I inherited mum's collection of tapes and still go to sleep to the sound of Tony Britten reading Dick Francis!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3658474694942339787.post-52124637103331516862022-05-09T18:43:27.769+01:002022-05-09T18:43:27.769+01:00I think Whip Hand is my favourite.
